National Forum on Studio Teaching
We are pleased to announce the 4th National Forum on Studio Teaching will be held in Sydney on 26th September with the theme "Sites of Creativity".
This national conference of studio educators in art, design, architecture and engineering will build on the demonstrable success of three previous National Studio Teaching Forums held in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
The 4th National Forum on Studio Teaching continues this engagement in the studio as a key site for creative learning and teaching and is the once a year opportunity for people teaching studio disciplines and those interested in the power of studio teaching to come together.
The thematic for the 4th Forum is ‘Sites of Creativity’, addressing research and practice on the ways in which space and culture intersect with studios as sites of creative learning.
The forum will be an action research event designed to bring creative academic practitioners and committed researchers interested in innovative and experimental studio pedagogy together with colleagues who are nationally recognised for their academic research in creative disciplines.

The first Forum had over 100 delegates meeting at COFA UNSW for a day looked at models of best practice in studio teaching. For Proceedings please go to National forum on studio teaching (July 2007)
The 2nd National Forum in 2008 focused on studio assessment and was also held at UNSW, with almost 100 delegates from across the country. It had a keynote presentation from Peter Schneider Professor of Architecture, University of Colorado, Denver, and invited case study presentations on assessment. The 3rd National Forum on Studio Teaching took place at the University of Tasmania in December 2009, with around 120 delegates and consisted of several keynotes and peer-reviewed papers addressing studio teaching as creative arts pedagogy. It was held co-sponsored by the Pathways Project and the Studio Teaching Project.
